The Hydra is a Legendary Atlas shotgun from the base game with a fixed five-cluster horizontal spread and a large pellet count. It excels against groups or at point-blank range, while critical-hit hunting is better served by more accurate shotguns. Some rolls can become Hunter's Hydras with fewer pellets and extra damage, and Carnage-barrel variants convert it into a single-projectile launcher while retaining its damage boosts.
