A Maliwan pistol valued far more for survival than for its own gun damage. While you are holding it, a portion of all damage you deal is returned as health, including damage from other sources, which makes it one of the best sustain tools in the game and a staple off-hand choice for high-damage setups. Slag versions are especially prized because they support both healing and damage amplification at the same time.

Rubi shots detonate on impact, and the splash portion is boosted by grenade damage bonuses. Axton does not receive healing from Sabre Turret damage. Damaging health-bar objects such as barrels or fuse boxes will also trigger healing. Self-damage can still heal you if the hit is fully absorbed by shields; if it reaches health, the life steal may only offset part of the damage.
